Geology for a Rainy Day on Cayman

After a few days of snorkeling, we have questions. We compulsively buy guides. Suddenly we want to understand the island, its formations, its creatures, its sands. This book, Islands from the Sea: Geologic Stories of Cayman has plenty of stuff to chew on.

Personally, we love unearthing those things we learned in school and applying them to a new area. This book is great for anyone who enjoys a sense of place. We’ll admit we skimmed a bit. This is a very specific book and does not spare on details. It does not underestimate one’s intelligence. But we’re happy to know what that rock stuff over in Hell is, how those blowholes formed, and how the island has changed over history. Dig in if you’re diggers, as we are.
